FAQs with Ryan Marrie | Ohio Real Title

Ohio Real Title President, Ryan Marrie, answers a few FAQs questions about the company and the title insurance industry.

Q: Why choose Ohio Real Title?

A: I have a lot of great competitors and a lot of people who do a nice job, but the key to our success the past 15 plus years is stability. Stability knowing the teams you are working with today are still going to be here years from now. We have people that have been with us 10, 12, 15 years. We have the professionals and resources to handle peak times.

Whoever you choose in a title partner, you want to make sure that they have been around a long time and they have the professionals that are there.

Q: Why do you need title insurance?

A: Purchasing a house is the biggest investment a lot of people make. Title insurance, opposed to a lot of insurance, is a one-time payment upfront that lasts as long as you have the property. It ensures your ownership, against any liens, and insurances when you go to sell the property, it’s marketable, and there are now problems.

Q: When are your busiest periods?

A: In Ohio, the real estate market runs with the seasons. Fall and winter aren’t nearly as busy as spring and summer. It’s difficult as a title company to be able to manage that, and staff appropriately, and have the resources in place. That’s where the additional supports that all of our branch offices have that allow them to deal with the key pressure times is key.

Q: How does Ohio Real Title do smooth closings?

A: We really focus on a smooth closing process for the buyer and seller. From the minute we get that transaction we send them the email and letter explaining the process. We make a call to each person to make sure we address any questions up front. We give everyone an idea that it’s going to be a 4-6 week process. If it comes down to the last minute, you don’t have to worry about how you’re going to take off work or how to cover the kids to close…you don’t have to worry about any of that with us, we will always come to you. We go to the buyers and sellers, wherever they are, any time of day. We have had numerous sellers signing a buyer remote notary from overseas. We really want to keep it a smooth process, let the buyers and sellers know what to expect. When it comes time to actually sign your documents and close, we’re going to make it as easy as possible for you.

Q: What is a typical day at Ohio Real Title?

A: A typical day at Ohio Real Title for our internal Escrow staff, hours are 8:30-5. The early hours are usually when you can get the most done before the phones and emails start rolling.

Then it’s our Escrow Teams working together, Escrow Officers all have their own assistant Coordinator to work as a team.

There is a ton of support behind the scenes. We have our Service Department, Post-Closing Department, Title Department. The resources we give to our Escrow Teams is really unmatched compared to others in the market.
