As the Chief Legal Counsel for Ohio Real Title, Keith Malick leads the legal team that handles all underwriting and compliance. Originally from Akron, Keith graduated with a B.S. in Finance and Marketing from Miami University, and earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Toledo College of Law.
Practicing law for over 20 years, Keith began his career as an Assistant Summit County Prosecutor before entering the title industry in 2003. Prior to joining ORT, Keith worked with Midland Commerce and First American with whom he held a variety of roles, including Senior Operations Manager for Ohio. Keith says that, “My passion for the courtroom led me into private practice in 2010, where I specialized in civil litigation.”
Keith Malick joined ORT in the Fall of 2017, and credits the fact that he is, “calm under pressure and leans on his intuition for looking outside of the box when problem solving.” He goes on to say that he is knowledgeable of all aspects of the title business, but it is the culture at ORT that is his favorite aspect of his job. “I work with many wonderful people.”
We recently had the opportunity to talk with Keith about his work, as well as how he spends his time away from Ohio Real Title.

How do you think ORT is different from other Title Companies?
We are innovative, we set the bar as opposed to reacting to it. We have a growth mindset.
Has your role with ORT changed during the past year during the pandemic?
My role has changed in finding different avenues to solve title and escrow challenges. Additionally, we have expanded the number of attorneys who report to me to meet our growing demand.
Personally and/or professionally, what are some lessons learned during the pandemic? How is your new normal different?
Personally, I learned I do not enjoy or prefer working from home. Professionally, I feel ORT found out that we are an industry leader during the pandemic because of our innovations and dedicated employees.
Do you see anything new on the horizon of the real estate industry, or title insurance?
I believe it will be a seller’s market for a while. We will see a deceleration in the listing price for residential homes in the coming months. Coupled with the mortgage forbearance set to be lifted soon we will see an influx of foreclosures in 2022 which should help to increase the available inventory for buyers.
Tell us about your family
I live in Bath, Ohio, with my girlfriend Ashely, 9 year old son Rogan, Goldendoodle Ellie, Tuxedo cat Harley. We are expecting a newborn son in late September.
When you are not working, how do you like to spend your free time?
I coach my son’s baseball team and assist in football. I am the President of Revere Local Schools Board of Education and Vice Chair on the Board of Trustees for Summit County Children Services. I enjoy golf, country music and spending time with my family and friends.

I am watching Yellowstone.
