As the Branch Manager for the Canton and New Philadelphia locations, and Sales and Marketing Representative, Mary Hogue-Scott does a bit of everything for Ohio Real Title. In addition to supporting her staff and team members to be successful, she assists in office design and renovations during ORTs times of expansion.
Prior to joining ORT, Mary earned her degree in Interior Architecture and Design and spent her time designing for high-end retail companies, serving as a Project Manager for large store openings or new branding roll outs. “Some of the most fun and challenging projects were airport kiosk installs,” she notes. “ I love seeing a space I designed come to life and be functional and enjoyable.”
We recently had the opportunity to talk with Mary Hogue-Scott about her work, as well as her life outside of Ohio Real Title.

What personal qualities do you have that help you to be successful in your role at ORT?
I would say… Systems and Processes Management and Strategically Managing Conflict with a Smile.
How do you think Ohio Real Title is different from other title companies?
We have great leadership. All necessary resources are provided to us to be successful and with that our employees flourish and treat our customers from example.
There is ALWAYS a way to accomplish what’s needed and we try to do our part to not let the day to day small stuff get in the way.
What is your favorite thing about working at Ohio Real Title?
The amount of trust that is granted to me to do the best I can with my responsibilities. With that I enjoy problem solving and working with my teams and agents to ensure everyone is getting the best service! Working alongside some of the best, I learn from them everyday.
How did your role at ORT change during the pandemic?
I’ve been forced to be more of a phone person. I usually work off of facial expressions and read the emotions of a situation so it has been challenging BUT a skill I’ve been meaning to work on. Now is the time!
Personally and/or professionally, what are some lessons learned during the pandemic? What do you hope doesn’t “go back to normal”?
Personally – Slow down. Enjoy the ones around you, because tomorrow isn’t promised. Though I am usually always on the go, I didn’t mind, but rather quite enjoyed being “stuck” at home with my husband and baby.
Professionally – Everyone handles things differently and it’s important to respect and adhere to all no matter your views while respectfully standing your ground to keep “your people” safe.
As for what I hope does and doesn’t “go back” – I miss seeing people’s faces, but I wouldn’t be upset if the Underwriter’s Gap coverage was the new norm!
When you are not working, how do you like to spend your free time?
Much of my time is spent with my husband and 18-month old son! We are either biking, at swim lessons, walking at the park, or spending time with family.
When theatre is active I can be found at orchestras, live concerts, or broadway musicals. Music has always been a special part of my life!
What are you listening to/reading/watching?
Just finished “Where the Crawdad’s Sing” – Definitely worth the read.
My playlist is listening to the happenings in my busy office. 🙂
What are three words that your clients and/or colleagues have used to describe you?
Trustworthy, Positive, Encouraging
What are your words to live by?
“Be kind and respectful.” Because as my Grandma always said, “Slow down. The rest will all come out in the wash.”
